Working without taking long holiday breaks is harmful to your personal well-being and work performance. You face many challenges managing your health which leads to fatigue and lack the motivation to work. Note, that feeling tired and lack of motivation are common challenges, but extreme tiredness and lack of work motivation are symptoms of career burnout. Below is a list of things you need to do to save yourself from the negative effects of job burnout.

Knowing the symptoms of being work burned out is very critical. Keep in mind, feeling exhausted is a part of normal lifestyles. However, exhaustion can have bad side effects if you lack sleep, feel upset all the time or fall sick more often. It is even worse when you feel incompetent at work or alienated at the workplace. Feeling exhausted, incompetent and cynical are major signs you are burned out.

Working hard for a prolonged period is not the main reason you are not interested in your career anymore. You are burned out due to job demands that force you to work for long hours than required. Work burn out is the caused when job demands, expectations and deadlines outweigh personal interests such as recognition, relaxation and rewards.

Maintaining good health is key to overcoming common work obstacles that make you feel burned out. Start by eating healthy meals, exercise, get enough rest and sleep. Sleeping for six to eight hours is important to ensure your body and mind are relaxed. Find out what makes you feel relaxed and make an effort of doing it daily.

Your attitude has a great impact on your day to day work life. If you feel resentful towards your job, you risk becoming career burned out. People have a negative attitude towards their job if it prevents them from doing what they enjoy most due to demands that consume most of their time. Take some time off normal duties and spend time engaging in activities you enjoy. This helps you rediscover your abilities and personal goals.

An evaluation is of great importance when you feel exhausted, cynical or inefficient at work. An assessment helps you decide whether seeking an alternative job based on your interests, passions and skills is effective. Make sure your current job fits your personal demands, skills and interests. If changing employment fits you right, consider finding another employer.

Work schedule, duties and mentorship are important aspects to consider when solving work burnout. You may want to delegate some duties to other team members or share tasks with the supervisor. Taking classes is an added advantage for anyone feeling tired about working. Enroll for mentorship to get motivated to work and perform better.

Relatives and friends play vital roles in your life. Discuss with them issues affecting your well being at work. They will offer the needed support to help you manage stress. Most companies have employee assistance programs. Take advantage of the services offered to overcome work burnout before it affects your overall well being.
