It is certain that divorcing is not an easy experience. This is because everyone gets into a marriage with the hope that they will live happily till death do them part. When time come for them to divorce, it gets harder and emotions are high. However, despite the emotional turmoil you might experience during a separation, it is important to take things easy. This is particularly important during the court process. Remember that the judge does not know you and thus he or she will look at your behavior to derive the kind of a person you are. You should learn how to behave in divorce court.

Many people do not know that the behavior they portray in courtrooms can either work for or against them. Proper behavior can help you gain custody of your children or lose it. You need to have decorum when addressing issues. For instance, the judge will not take it well if you arrive at the courtroom late. Organize yourself early enough to ensure that you get to the courtroom earlier.

You should also mind about your dressing code. Decency is very important if you are going to present yourself as a respectable person. If you want to get custody of your children, the judge will not award you the custody if they sense that you are careless based on how you are dressed. Also, avoid overdoing your makeup and accessories.

It certain that everyone has a cellphone. It is therefore important to behave with your cellphone while at the courtroom. The best way is to switch it off. Nothing irritates the judge more than having a ringing phone in the courtroom. In case the phone must be on, set it on vibration mode. If the phone rings during the proceedings, it might be taken away from you.

Avoid making faces as it may portray you as a person who have no decorum. In case you are not happy with any statement made during the proceedings, do not show it with your face. Also, in case there is something you need to communicate with your lawyer, wait until the proceedings are over or simply jot it down on a piece of paper and pass it to him or her.

Your speech should portray confidence and surety. You should not talk like you are not sure of what you are saying. When expressing yourself. Look up, and look at the person you are addressing in the eyes. Remember you are not after seeking self-pity, you are fighting for what is rightfully yours.

You should also learn when you need to remain silence. You should only speak when asked to. Avoid interrupting other speakers. Also, avoid arguments especially with the judge. In case you are not pleased with the ruling of the judge, remain silence. Maintain a sober face. However, you should show interest in the case.

You may wonder why you need to behave in a special way in courtroom whereas you are not a criminal. The fact is that every place has its required code of ethics that require observing. Although you will not go to jail for misconduct, you may lose so many privileges due to misbehavior.
