Repurposed Home Decor Is All The Rage

By Sandra Wright

You don't have to spend a fortune redecorating your home. You just have to learn how to look at items in a new, and unique way. Many people use repurposed home decor items throughout their homes and you can too. Items can be located in all the different rooms of your home, at yard sales, and even in the trash. Repurposing something means using it in a different way, and it's a great way to save money, and help the planet. When you give something new life, you're keeping it from the landfill, which is always great.

Investigate your home first. Attempt to imagine moving things from where they normally are to another area. You'll change the look of both rooms when yo do this. In the event that you have a tea kettle that you adore, however you don't make tea, transform it into a vase, or utilize it to hold trinkets and treasures around your work area. You're also able to do likewise with containers and glasses.

There are so many things around you that can be repurposed. Somethings, such as a lamp is easy, you can just change a shade, or even make your own. Look for collections of things that you enjoy, and see how you can put them together to form a lamp base. Once you create a base, all you need is a kit to make the lamp work. It's fun, and you're left with a lamp is unlike any other lamp you'll likely find.

Don't be embarrassed to stop by the side of the road to grab something out of the trash if it catches your eye. Many great finds are found this way. It's a great way to get free pieces to use in and around your property. Wood objects and furniture are almost always wonderful finds. These items can be refinished and made to look like they come from a high end store.

Likewise be watchful for things that may be broken, for example, old, metal yard tabletops with a broken leg. The bistro tables work magnificently as a swing to swing from a tree. Simply include chains and locate an appropriate tree limb. At that point hop on and swing away. This is a lovely and fun accent for any yard.

Bistro tabletops can also become wall art. Remove the legs and hang it on the wall over the fireplace. These tables often have beautiful decorative cutouts that make them look beautiful on a wall.

Even old rubber boots can be turned into something cute. Make a couple of holes in the bottom, fill them with soil and turn them into adorable planters. Use a few in different colors and different sizes for an interesting arrangement. Old teacups also make sweet planters for small plants. Place them on your patio or porch and admire them instead of leaving them locked away in a cupboard or box.

Now that you've read about some ideas, it's time for you to go on a treasure hunt to find items to repurpose. You'll love the things that you'll find and make once you get started. It might seem a bit strange at first, but it becomes quite addicting once you get going. Have fun and enjoy the process, then show off all of the great things that you created.
