Causes And Treatment For Abdominal Pain

In most cases, pain in the abdomen is experienced in the stomach and lower or upper abdomen. According to estimations, this problems is experienced by most people at least once in life. It occurs at different times in various people. The cause may range from something as minor as indigestion to something as life-threatening as cancer. If the cause is an underlying medical condition, it is advisable to seek medical help as soon as possible. In this case, the Abdominal pain is a mere symptom or a side effect of the main cause.

Factors that cause pain in the abdomen are many and diverse. Most of them are disease which include gallbladder disease, ulcers, cancers, food poisoning, diverticulitis, vascular problems, and appendicitis. STDs, fibroids, cysts and other female illnesses are also key causes. In some cases, pregnancy may also cause the problem in some women. The discomfort should stop when one gives birth. They are irregular and occur frequently. Physical trauma can also cause the problem in certain cases.

The way the pains occur differ from ne individual to the next. Health, cause and other factors may define the characteristics of the aching. Commonly, the discomfort may be knifelike, cramp-like, dull, piercing, sharp, stabbing, and twisting. Severity and frequency of the discomfort can vary a lot.

How long the pains last vary also. In some cases, it may only occur for a short while and disappear while in others, it may take several hours or even days in severe cases. The level of intensity may be constant or it may start intensively and lessen over time. It is good to record and be aware of the way the pain behaves so as to give the doctor a proper description to assist with the diagnosis. A personal narration of what one feels also helps in making a diagnosis.

The occurrence of the aching may be triggered by some cause or may occur on its own. Also, some events may make it worse or relieve it. Examples of events that may relieve or worsen the problem include bowel movement, running, eating, lying down, vomiting, and standing. Some of the common positions where aching occurs commonly are lower left/right side, upper left/right side, lower, upper, or middle side. The cause can be effectively indicated by the location of the discomfort.

Discomfort in the abdomen can come about as a problem in a very different part of the body. An example of such is when the problem is caused by certain kinds of pneumonias and heart attacks. Shingles and many other forms of rashes on the skins also result in the problem. Surprising enough, one may suffer from pain their abdomen if they are bitten by the black widow spider.

Diagnosis is achieved by combining various approaches, which include testing, understanding history, and physical examination. Diagnostic testing employs methods such as x-ray and blood testing. The doctor will start by asking several questions regarding the condition before performing a physical examination.

The cause of the pain is one of the major factors based upon to determine treatment. There are many treatment options for treatment which include surgery, observation, endoscopy, and medication. When treatment is began early, chances of management are increased.
