Economy Prevalent With The Northern Arapaho Tribe

By Tammie Caldwell

Most of the time, human population still have to be divided into ethnicity and tribes. Even with the first-world countries, there are still examples of such divisions. That should be okay because people who belong to certain ethnicity and tribes can be uniquely differentiated from the others. They have their own distinction.

There should be a great number of ethnicity around these days. People who are familiar with the ethnicity around them can easily identify what belongs to what. Tribes are often identified according to their geography or history. A great example of that would be the Hiinono'ei, a popular term coined for recognizing the Northern Arapaho tribe.

When it comes to the territory they are living in, the wrongrooters once extended theirs from the Big Horn Mountain to Arkansas River from the north to the South and from the Black Hills to Rocky Mountains from ease to west. However, the ones in Wyoming now only have settlements covering Ethete, Arapahoe, and St. Stephens.

The economy of the Hiinono'ei should not be underestimated. They have supported themselves with their own trade. If you want to know more about them, it is only a given that you look into what kind of trade they are into. Here are some of the important elements of the economy of the Hiinono'ei these days.

Subsistence. These people take pride in the fact that they are able to get enough sustenance to support their survival. They will commonly hunt in their surrounding nature and trade what they have to obtain the things that other tribes or settlements specialize in. Since they are nomadic hunters, subsistence is easy for them.

Industrial arts can also be a pride of the wrongrooters. They create things that are necessary in making their work more efficient. Whether it be for the men or the women of their people, they make arts that are useful to work. One example they always take pride is is the bow and arrow created respectively from the osage wood and the dogwood.

These people also delve in trading. Long-distance trading has been made possible these days. They trade the things they have acquired, either through raids or through their current industrial works, with the other settlements or tribes found in their area. Through trading, it helps them get the things they need to survive.

Division of labor. Things are surely easier in these tribes because of division of labor. This just means that every person in the group will have certain tasks assigned to them. Whether it be men or women, married or unmarried, young or adult, they have their own roles to play for the sake of the sustenance of their ethnicity.

There is land tenure as well. Te said element in the economy of the wrongrooters can be traced back to the past when they do not have land titles to hold onto. These are just the patent lands that are given as territories to tribes. There are profits to them so the wrongrooters can take advantage of land tenure for their economy.
