Brief Information On Sun Tanning

By Haywood Hunter

There are many men and women who enjoy a healthy glow that sun tanning gives their skin. Crowds of people will travel during the winter to tropical locations in order to spend time on the beaches and work on their tans. To help get the best from sun tanning, some brief tips are listed below.

One of the most important things to remember about sun tanning is to not get a sun burn. It is counter productive to your goals, it hurts, and it can lead to serious complications later. Complications include skin cancer and premature aging of the skin. Getting a burn will undo the effect you are trying to get from sun tanning.

The amount of time spent sun tanning should be spread out over several days. Never spend more than two hours at one time in the sun. It is best to start with fifteen minutes then increase time spent sun tanning slowly. If you are in a hurry or the weather is too overcast, there are tanning spa's you can try.

Before applying any sun tanning products to your skin, exfoliate first with a loofah. This can help your skin hold the tan longer by getting rid of all the dead skin cells first. Also use moisturizer after being in the sun to keep your skin and tan looking supple and beautiful.

It is highly recommended to always use a sun tanning lotion with an SPF of at least fifteen. Apply it thirty minutes before going outside to allow it to absorb into the skin. Be sure to reapply after being in the water or after activities that cause you to sweat.

The sun is going to dry out your skin so remember to also drink plenty of water. Also remember your eyelids and lips while sun tanning and either cover them or moisturize and protect them with a strong SPF. The bottom of your feet also have to be remembered while in the sun. You probably do not want a tan on them, but they will burn quickly, so cover them.
