Rock Garden Fountains And Other Peaceful Techniques

By Larry Peterson

It can feel difficult to find the time to rest and recharge when we are faced with constant obligations and to do lists. Giving yourself a place to find some peace and be alone is vital for our wellbeing and happiness and it all begins in the home. Find somewhere, a room or garden with rock garden fountains where you can relax and call your own space.

Water features are particularly helpful for establishing a peaceful area for many reasons. Water symbolises a new beginning and running water symbolises progression. In addition to this the sound of running water has a very calming effect, and people often use it to help them go to sleep, study or meditate.

Schedule in a few minutes each day to just sit and breathe in your new relaxing space. This might feel a little self indulgent, but when we schedule every moment of our days it seems mad not to give ourselves the time to recharge. After all, it is that recharging time that allows us to achieve everything else on our never-ending to do lists.

A reading nook or den can be an excellent addition to the area. Don't fill it with unrealistic expectations and books you've been meaning to read but don't actually want to as this can cause stress and make you feel even more pressured. Fill it with books you are excited to read, so that everytime you see the nook you can't wait to get in there and have some time to yourself.

Yoga has become a trendy form of exercise, but in its essence, it is about finding a moment of peace and establishing balance between the body and mind. Giving yourself a few minutes to practise yoga can be hugely beneficial, whether you sit and follow breathing exercises or do a few stress releasing poses.

Don't feel like you need to exclude your children from the area. It is a space for peace and quiet and renewal and this is also an important lesson for kids to learn. Bring them into the space and make them feel welcome, but explain to them what the space is for. This way they will be able to use the space when they need it too.

If you have friends or family members who are struggling with anxiety and depression, why not invite them along into the space. Sometimes all we need is permission to relax and be a little selfish for a few minutes and instantly the pressure is taken off and we can relax again. Sharing your space with others is a wonderful way to help them.

Your home should be a place that feels safe and leaves you feeling recharged and ready for whatever lies ahead of you. By taking the time to set up a safe and peaceful space in your home, you are giving yourself permission to relax and recharge. No one else can do this for you and it is beneficial to absolutely everyone.
