Tips For Sending Holiday Ecards For Your Business

By Brenda Wright

Sending cards to your clients and vendors is a good way to keep your business at the top of their minds. A lot of people appreciate getting cards over getting social media messages and text messages during special occasions. To increase the appeal of your cards and for them to have the most impact, here are some tips to keep in mind when sending out holiday ecards.

Decide who you want to email. It is best if you choose to email people that you have a personal relationship with or you are cordial towards. Avoid anyone that you do not interact well with. Separate your contacts into various lists, based on the purpose they serve in your organization. For instance, don't send similar cards to your customers and suppliers. This is because these are different segments of people and you relate with them differently.

Personalization gets better response rates than generalized cards. Customize the card by including the name of the recipient on the card. You can also write a customized message for everyone on their cards. This may take a long time but it will make the recipients happier. Just write something short and meaningful, based on how you relate with the person.

Send the cards on time. Not too early and not too late. Generally, aim to send it a couple of days to the special occasion. If you send it after the occasion then it will have lost its significance. Also, if you send it on the day of the occasion, chances are that the recipient might not see it since they might not check their messages on that day.

When sending out the cards, concentrate on good wishes. Do not include any marketing messages on your card. This is because your customers will just think that you are just after their money after all. Leave out promotional discounts and codes out of your card. Also, avoid any promotional messages. Keep things focused on your goodwill message.

Keep things simple. You don't have to come up with a complex design for the card. Hiring a graphic designer to work on the design is okay but it is not necessary. You can design something simple on your own. You can even get generic cards and then add or remove some elements and the color, so as to make it unique.

Your clients have different beliefs. It is likely that they also have different religions. If you send religious messages and they do not adhere to your religion, you are going to offend them. That is why it is best that you just send out general good wishes, without basing them on any religious affiliations. Do not push your beliefs down their throats.

Sending cards is an inexpensive way of acquiring and retaining your customers. Given the amount of time it will take you to design the cards and send them out versus the impact it will have, it is definitely a worthy investment. If you have not been sending out these cards, then give them a try. It is a good way to keep in touch with your customers and to maintain a positive relationship.
