Acupuncture Done Right With Manhattan NY Chiropractic Offices

By Guy Stannard

Acupuncture is one method of therapy within in the modern medical field, though it has roots that go back much farther. This is a method of therapy and health management that entails stimulating specific areas and important regions of the body, most often with thin needles that are pricked into the skin.

In most instances, this procedure is used to prevent pain and to get rid of certain conditions in the body. This procedure was first used in China thousands of years ago. Through many research studies that have been done over the years, it has been discovered that this procedure can reduce pain levels and ease symptoms of some diseases, such as slight heart problems and many other diseases.

For instance, there was a study that was done involving 18, 000 patients. The result of this study was published in the October 2012 issue of Archives of Internal Medicine. The results of the study showed that patients who underwent acupuncture observed an improvement in their health conditions, as compared to patients who just took modern medicine and didn't undergo acupuncture. The results of the studies varied, depending on the particular conditions of the patients.

Studies are being conducted to see how acupuncture can be used to treat various symptoms and illnesses. Some of the conditions that it is hoped that acupuncture can deal with includes bowel syndrome, high blood pressure, mental problems, asthma and cancer.

Even though medical professionals that are not into alternative medicine are skeptical if acupuncture really works, most of them remain open minded about it. Some of them are open to their patients using it, if it proves to be quite helpful to them in helping them to reduce pain and symptoms experienced.

The future is wide open as more and more people are beginning to use acupuncture and, at the same time, more and more people in the medical community are starting to take it as a serious and valid method of therapy.
