Prior to reading this you may have come across a few adverts and some for sale signs and you have decided to get yourself a new pet, and in this case a new dog. Some of the signs you have seen show dogs being sold by a local cavachon breeder in your area. If you are interested or intent on this breed, then do read on for some tips before you plunk down your money.

The cavachon is a mix between two distinct and popular breeds being the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, a sporting dog, and the Bichon Frise a non sporting one. In terms of overall temperament it will be a toss up what kind you will get, and it will be in the range of having a dog with a friendly and playful personality to one that is aloof and hard headed. You will only really know the real personality once it reaches maturity.

Two hundred to five hundred dollars is the average price range for this dog. As such it can reach over six hundred dollars if it comes from champion parents while also coming from a well respected breeder or kennel. Prices can be much less however if you try your luck at a local animal shelter if they are available for adoption.

Housebreaking this breed may prove to be a challenge to many owners, especially first timers. They are one of the harder breeds to housebreak and will take longer when compared to other dogs. Before you do go crazy, it may be best to research the crate method on the internet as a possible strategy, one which many owners say works well for this breed.

This dog will have soft and silky coats which are somewhat wavy. In general there are three major combinations of colors of apricot, white, and white with black and tan markings. Those that are close to first generation crosses will tend to not shed as much as later generations. A good bath is required for this dog every six weeks at least and it should have regular brushing.

The cavachon will have a few health concerns but manageable to say the least. Due to its fairly thick fur it will be prone to flea allergies. It will also will develop heart murmurs as it progresses in age. Make sure that its ears will be cleaned at least once a week for it will tend to get infected due to it being much hairier than most dog ears.

An advantage of this dog is its size. Since it is small it is quite capable of small space living as is needed in urban situations. It also does quite well as a travelling companion and also does well living on the road especially recreational vehicles.

This short article thus has shown some good bits of info that you should consider so that you can make an informed choice on this breed or not. Make sure that you also do a bit more research to make your decision rock solid.
