Looking For A Challenger Rhd Conversion

By Edward Nelson

When moving a Dodge challenger from the States to another country where they drive on the other side of the road many owners will have the vehicles controls moved to the other side of the car. If you are looking for a challenger rhd conversion there are a few options available to you after some homework has been done. It is not a legal requirement in many countries but making the changes will make your driving experience much more comfortable.

When you have made a decision to convert there are some more changes to make than moving a few basics. As well as the foot pedals, steering wheel and switches, other bits will need to be modified or adjusted. Exhaust systems, brakes and the headlights will also need to be adjusted or tweaked to make sure that the vehicle is safe to be driven on roads.

The most cost effective method of changing the vehicles controls over is to buy parts in kit form and do the job at home. This will be an inexpensive option and a good way of getting the conversion done. A downside of a parts kit is that some of the results are quite unsightly and a lot of the parts can be left exposed.

If you are trying to find the right kit some of the web based retailers are a good place. These firms will have stock for challengers and your items will be shipped to your home with all of the fitting diagrams. As well as the cost of the kit some other tools may be required to do the modifications and they will be able to supply these.

The better way to have your conversion done is to hand your vehicle over to a modification company who can do the work. There are lots of companies who specialize in this type of work and their results will be of a very high standard. It will obviously cost a more than the kit conversion but can be worth it as their work will be covered by a proper guarantee.

If you are having the work done by a conversion specialist the final results are much better than you get with kits. All newly fitted components should hidden from sight and the car will look as it has come out of the factory with the controls on the right. Most firms will offer excellent aftercare and will continue to look after the vehicle after the work is completed.

When your conversions are completed the car will need to be inspected by an auto engineer to ensure it is safe. If it is converted by a professional mechanic, the car should be returned with all of the documents stating that it has passed the inspections. If the work has been carried out in a home workshop the vehicle can be booked in for these checks.

When you are making alterations to a vehicle the warranty offered by the manufacturer will not be valid afterwards. Another point to consider is that the value of your challenger could be much lower and it will be difficult to sell. After doing modifications to a car you should notify your insurers of the changes as there will probably be a change in your annual premiums.
