It can also be on the methods of instilling discipline they use or the environment the youngster will be subjected to. Using this list, cross off those that do not possess the desired qualities.

Know the staff of the place before taking the child to it. A child has a very sensitive mind and how they are handled at the tender ages contributes to their growth. If the child is by any means assaulted, they can end up taking the wrong paths in life. Check on the language used, if it is suitable for a child at that age.

Draw up a contract for both you and the caregiver. In this contract, write down the rules and regulations you expect to be followed. In the same form, the caregiver should also write down what they expect from you. It can include agreements on the salary, off hours and visits. It can also include rules on sick leaves and vacations. Before signing it, both parties should come to an agreement.

Investigate the facility for any previous foul play and their methods of care giving. Check if they have been involved in scandals before and if so, what they were about. Inspect on how they handle complaints and their policies on hiring of the staff. Make certain that those who handle the kids are qualified to do so, not necessarily by education but also by experience.

Ensure it is registered under the law in the specific ministry it is supposed to be under. This can be assured by asking for their proof of accreditation. In case of a complaint, it will be easy to report to the police or the relevant authorities and if need be, a case can be filed in court. If they are operating illegally, one will be taken in circles before any action is taken against them.
