How To Get Rid Of Mold On Wood

Majority of homes and offices normally have items made of wood. From time to time, the wood gets into contact with dust, water, and other materials that lead to growth of molds on them. Mold makes wood look ancient and dirty. Additionally, molds can cause serious health problems to you and your relatives and workmates. It raises the likelihood of getting asthma or other respiratory ailments. Besides, some people may develop strong allergic reactions to the molds. All the same, it can be gotten rid of using certain materials. Below are ways on how to get rid of mold on wood.

You can use vinegar to remove molds from wood. Vinegar is a non-toxic liquid that won't cause harm when used. Pour some ounces of distilled white vinegar into a spray container then spray it on the affected area. Let it sit in the area for a while then scrub lightly with a clean rag.

The acidic nature of vinegar breaks the composition of molds and kills it. Afterward, allow the solution to dry to thwart additional growth of fungi.

Baking soda is another great solution for removal of molds. It is cheap and readily available even in our homes. Mix some water and baking soda in a spray bottle. Spray the affected area with the solution lightly, scrub it with a rag, and then wipe it. After some time, spray the area again and leave it to dry. With its pH of 8, the baking soda kills the molds and prevents recurrence of molds.

The most efficient means of removing molds on wood is by using tea tree oil. It is quite expensive yet even with a minute quantity it can effectively remove the unwanted moldy materials. In addition, it is safe to persons and pets. Mix one cup of water with a 5ml spoon of tea tree oil. Spew the mixture onto the moldy surface and let it dry. On the other hand, you can utilize a cloth to scour the affected area lightly and allow it dry with no rinsing.

Grapefruit seed extract also kills molds effectively. Although grapefruit is costly, it aids in removing fungi and has no odor. Also, the citric acid it contains, works proficiently in killing molds. Mix up ten ounces of grapefruit seed extract with water in a spray bottle. Spew the moldy area and utilize a duster to swab the fungi. Just allow it to stay longer to hinder recurrence of fungi.

Hydrogen Peroxide is also an excellent solution for removing molds. Hydrogen peroxide is an anti-bacterial and anti-fungal solution that kills fungi. Dispense three percent concentration of hydrogen peroxide in a spray container. Spray it on the moldy area fully and let it sit there for about ten minutes. After that, scrub the area to get rid of all molds. And then wipe the area to remove any residue of molds.

Lastly, take note of the fact there are many techniques of eliminating molds like bleach. However, natural ways like the one mentioned above, are more efficient because they are not harmful.
